Merchant Bay CEO nominated as the Chairman of BGMEA’s Standing Committee of Market Development

Abrar Hossain Sayem, CEO of Merchant Bay Limited and Director of Sayem Group was nominated as the Chairman of the BGMEA’s Standing Committee on Market Development -Egypt for the year 2022-2023. Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA signed a mandate for the Standing Committee on Market Development -Egypt under the leadership of Abrar Hossain Sayem for the year 2022-2023.

Mr. Sayem sees it as an opportunity to promote the Bangladesh RMG industry in Egypt. He said, “I have been always passionate about finding new opportunities and developing new markets. Hence, I am really excited and humbled to receive this responsibility. I would look deeper into the Egypt market to develop more businesses with Bangladesh.”

Mr. Sayem has been a spokesperson for the second-generation leaders of the RMG industry. He is the founding President of Bangladesh Apparel Youth Leader’s Association (BAYLA). He founded BAYLA to bring all the young minds of the RMG industry together to form a think tank that analyzes forward looking technologies and data driven solutions.

He has been working as a director of Sayem Group since 2014. His hands on experience in the RMG industry helped him in pinpointing the challenges of RMG industry. Later he founded Merchant Bay Limited to address those challenges. He believes it is impossible to grow Bangladesh RMG industry to its true potential without having a data driven digital ecosystem.
