The Bangladesh government has formed a national export committee to oversee export activities and take necessary measures. The body will identify existing problems in export and possible crisis. The body will also look into postgraduate challenges for Bangladesh Exports.
The body consists of 44 members, headed by the Prime Minister as well 11 ministers, the principal secretary at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the Bangladesh Bank governor, the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and nine secretaries from relevant ministries.
Executive chairmen of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority, and vice-chairman of Export Promotion Bureau are also the members of the committee.
The committee will scrutinize the export related issues to increase export earnings and recommend the required measures in this regard. It will also discuss the current and possible crises and the post-graduation challenges, and recommend and decide the necessary steps accordingly.
Bangladesh govt. is targeting $80 B export by 2024, this committee should help achieve this goal. Reducing complexities in decision making has the potential to increase Bangladesh's appeal as a premier exporting country in South Asia.
